invitation to Sound Policy: January 27.

When people think about music innovation and policy, they often picture artists on stage. But behind every global hit is a producer, the technologist coding beats, mastering software, and building careers through digital tools and skills-first learning.

On January 27 in Washington, DC, Katch Skills is proud to co-host Sound Policy: Latin Music Leaders Shaping the Future of Tech, an exclusive convening that brings some of those producers to the forefront of conversations about the future of opportunity in tech. Hosted by Katch Skills and El Beatdown, in partnership with The Latino Coalition, HTTP, and Florida International University, the event spotlights Latin music producers as essential voices in conversations about technology, workforce innovation, and the future of the creative economy.

The Tech Behind the Music

Often heard but rarely seen, music producers are the engineers of today’s sound. Many built their careers outside traditional degree pathways—learning digital production, audio engineering, and creative software on their own. Their journeys reflect exactly what Katch Skills champions: skills-first, tech-enabled pathways that turn learning into opportunity.

This live panel will feature leading Latin music producers sharing why producers belong in national conversations about technology and talent.

Featuring Multi-Platinum, Grammy Winning Producers

  • Nely “El Arma Secreta”“Mayor Que Yo,” “Rakata”

  • Michael Bryan Masis “MVSIS” —KLOuFRENS” (ft. Bad Bunny), “No Me Conoces” (ft. Bad Bunny, Jhayco & Balvin), “Medusa” (ft. Anuel, Jhayco), “Ojitos Lindos”

Why This Policy Conversation Matters

As the United States works to expand its leadership in technology and innovation, scaling alternative and skills-focused learning pathways is critical. Latin music producers demonstrate what’s possible when talent is given access to tools, technology, and real-world learning opportunities. By investing in programs that recognize skills wherever they are learned, we can widen the pipeline into tech, strengthen the economy, and ensure more people can contribute to, and benefit from, the innovation that drives America’s global competitiveness.

At Katch Skills, we believe every skill counts—especially the ones powering the music we love. Join us as we amplify the technologists behind the sound.
